A country long enough to run from subtropical waterfalls to the edge of Antarctica, so trips here are usually built around two or three regions rather than trying to see all of it.
What it's known for
- Buenos Aires European-scale boulevards, tango, and the country's best eating
- Iguazú Falls Hundreds of falls on the Brazilian border; both sides are worth seeing
- Mendoza High-altitude vineyards under the Andes, and the heart of Argentine Malbec
- Patagonia El Calafate for the Perito Moreno glacier, Bariloche for lakes, Ushuaia for the end of the road
When to go
Seasons are reversed. Patagonia is really only open November to March; Buenos Aires and the north are pleasant in spring and autumn.

Flights into Buenos Aires, generally overnight via Houston, Dallas, Miami or Atlanta.
